നാം സ്തോത്രം ചെയ്യുമ്പോള്‍ - When We Praise God. കല്ല്ലിശേരിയില്‍ നിന്നും തോണ്ടിയെത്ത് പുത്തെന്‍ വീട്ടില്‍ സഹോ. ജെയിംസ്‌ സാമുവേലിന്റെ ചുമതലയില്‍ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചു കൊണ്ടിരുന്ന "പ്രാര്‍ഥനാധ്വനി" എന്ന ദ്വൈമാസികയില്‍ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ച (l999 ജൂണ്‍ ജൂലൈ ലക്കം) ഒരു പത്രാധിപ ലേഖനം:
ഇതിലെ നിര്‍ദ്ദേശങ്ങള്‍ കാലിക പ്രസക്തമാകയാല്‍ വീണ്ടും ഇവിടെ ചേര്‍ക്കുന്നു.

സ്തോത്രം ചെയ്യുമ്പോള്‍
ആഴ്ച വട്ടത്തിന്റെ ഒന്നാം നാള്‍ ആരാധനക്കായി നാം സഭയായി കൂടിവരുമ്പോള്‍ സ്തോത്രം ചെയ്യുന്നതിനായി നാം സമയം വേര്‍തിരിക്കാറുണ്ടല്ലോ. ആ സമയത്ത് ശ്രദ്ധിക്കേണ്ട ചില കാര്യങ്ങള്‍ സവിനയം അനുസ്മരിപ്പിക്കുവാനാണ് ഈ കുറിപ്പ് എഴുതുന്നത്.
പല സ്ഥലംസഭകളിലും കൃത്യമായ ചില ക്രമങ്ങള്‍ സ്തോത്രം ചെയ്യുന്നതിലും കണ്ടുവരുന്നു.
ചില സ്ഥലം സഭകളില്‍ എല്ലാ ആഴ്ചയും ഒരാള്‍ തന്നെയാണ് ആദ്യം സ്തോത്രം ചെയ്യുന്നത്.
മൂന്നു പേര്‍ സ്തോത്രം ചെയ്തു കഴിയുമ്പോള്‍ എല്ലാവരും തല ഉയര്‍ത്തി ആ ഭാഗം അവസാനിപ്പിക്കുന്നതും പതിവാണ്.
എന്നും ഒരാള്‍ തന്നെ ആദ്യം സ്തോത്രം ചെയ്യുന്നതില്‍ പ്രത്യേകിച്ച് തെറ്റൊന്നും ഇല്ലെങ്കിലും അങ്ങനെ ആകാതിരിക്കുന്നതാണ് നല്ലത്.
ചെറിയ സ്ഥലം സഭകള്‍ ആണെങ്കില്‍ ചുരുങ്ങിയ വാക്കുകളില്‍ എല്ലാവരും സ്തോത്രം ചെയ്യുന്നത് നല്ലതാണ്.
പത്തു സഹോദരന്മാര്‍ വരെയുള്ള സ്ഥലം സഭകളില്‍ ഇത് പ്രായോഗികമാണന്നാണ് എന്റെ അഭിപ്രായം. രണ്ടോ മൂന്നോ പേര്‍ സ്തോത്രം ചെയ്തു കഴിയുമ്പോള്‍ സ്തോത്രഗാനത്തിന്റെ ഒരു ചരണം പാടി പിന്നെയും സ്തോത്രം ചെയ്യുവാന്‍ സമയം ഉപയോഗിക്കാവുന്നതാണ്.
ധാരാളം പേര്‍ ഉള്ള സ്ഥലം സഭകളില്‍ ഒരാഴ്ച സ്തോത്രം ചെയ്യുന്നതില്‍ മൌനമായിരുന്ന സഹോദരന്മാര്‍ അടുത്ത ആഴ്ച അതിനായി ശ്രദ്ധിക്കേണ്ടതാണ്.
എട്ടോ പത്തോ പേരെങ്കിലും സ്തോത്രം ചെയ്യുന്നത് നന്നായിരിക്കും.
ഒരാള്‍ സ്തോത്രം ചെയ്യുമ്പോള്‍ മറ്റെല്ലാവരും ഹൃദയം ഏകാഗ്രമാക്കി ക്കൊണ്ട് ശ്രദ്ധയോടിരിക്കണം.
സ്തോത്രം ചെയ്തു തീരുമ്പോള്‍ ശബ്ദത്തോട് കൂടി ആമേന്‍ പറയാനും ശ്രദ്ധിക്കണം.
സ്തോത്രം ചെയ്യുന്നവര്‍ ഒന്നര മിനിറ്റിലധികം നീണ്ടുപോകാതിരിക്കാന്‍ ശ്രദ്ധിക്കണം,
ഏറിയാല്‍ രണ്ടു മിനിട്ട്.
പിശാചു ഒന്നുകില്‍ നമ്മുടെ ശ്രദ്ധയെ മാറ്റാനോ അല്ലെങ്കില്‍ നമ്മെ ഉറക്കാനോ ശ്രമിച്ചു കൊണ്ടേയിരിക്കും.
സ്തോത്രം ചെയ്യുന്നത് നീണ്ടു പോയാല്‍ ഇത് അവനു എളുപ്പമാവുകയും ചെയ്യും. പിശാചിന് നാം അവസരം കൊടുക്കരുത്.
സ്തോത്രം ചെയ്യുന്നത് പ്രാര്‍ഥന ആയി പോകാതിരിക്കാന്‍ നാം പ്രത്യേകം ശ്രദ്ധിക്കണം.
വാങ്ങുവാനല്ല കൊടുക്കുവാന്‍ അല്ലെങ്കില്‍ ദൈവത്തിനു സമര്‍പ്പിക്കാനാണല്ലോ നാം ആരാധനയ്ക്ക് കൂടിവരുന്നത്.
ചിലര്‍ സ്തോത്രം ചെയ്തു തുടങ്ങും എന്നാല്‍ തുടര്‍ന്ന് അത് പ്രാര്‍ഥനയായി മാറിപ്പോകും. അല്‍പ്പം ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചാല്‍ നമുക്കിത് ഭംഗിയായി ചെയ്യുവാന്‍ കഴിയും.
ശുശ്രൂഷകള്‍ ചന്തമായും ഉചിതമായും ചെയ്യുന്നതിന് വേണ്ട ദൈവ കൃപ ലഭിക്കേണ്ടതിനു നാം എല്ലാദിവസവും പ്രാര്‍ഥിക്കുകയും വളരെ പ്രാര്‍ഥനയോടെ കൂടിവരവുകളില്‍ വരികയും വേണം. അപ്പോള്‍ ദൈവം സഹായിക്കും.
സ്തോത്രം ചെയ്തു അവസാനിക്കുമ്പോഴും അപേക്ഷാ രീതിയിലായി പോകാതിരിക്കാന്‍ ശ്രദ്ധിക്കുന്നത് നന്നായിരിക്കും.
ഈ ചെറിയ കുറിപ്പില്‍ എളിയ ചില നിര്‍ദ്ദേശങ്ങള്‍ ആണ് രേഖപ്പെടുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നത്.
ഈ നിര്‍ദ്ദേശങ്ങള്‍ പ്രയോജനപ്പെടുത്തിയാല്‍ നമ്മുടെ ആരാധനാ കൂടിവരവുകള്‍ അല്പം കൂടി അനുഗ്രഹകരവും ആസ്വാദ്യ കരവും ചൈതന്യവത്തും ആയിത്തീരും എന്ന് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു.

I confirm to the intentions and purpose which is brought out through this article in its entirety.
ReplyDeleteThere are many great points that the author has stressed upon that should help us going forward.
What the author observes here is based on experiences of many current day practices in our gatherings. It is true that the lifelessness that has crept into present day churches have given rise to the adoption of many ritualistic practices that beg a change.
Most of these practices may not have a scriptural standing and refuse to let go from our assemblies. Thus the true purpose of worship is lost behind these heavy boulders.
Although, there is a need to humbly point out specific aspects of worship that have been brought forward in the post as well.
Worship cannot not be confined to a set of rules or guidelines that are formed in our feeble minds.
By saying that men in the assemblies should get up and audibly participate in worship every week, we may run the risk of confining the act of worship to mere human obligation, which is not the intent and subject of our worship.
On the contrary, we are warned to take part in worship in an unworthy manner.
Men should not feel obliged to get up to please anyone else, apart from the Almighty.
A believer should feel the strength and guidance of Holy Spirit, that would enable him to engage in various devotional acts of worship.
Again, all this would come only through the direction of the Holy Spirit that binds each one of us together in one accord.
If a king wants his subjects to worship him, he would be pleased in a worship which is according his will and not what is decided by his subjects. In the same manner, when we come together to worship our Father in heaven , we should worship Him in a manner which is pleasing and acceptable to Him. We as humans are weak and incapable to accomplish this with of our earthly efforts. John 4:24 as we all know helps us to accomplish this. Jesus says, "and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
Firstly, we should worship in Spirit. The Holy Spirit inspires us in worship. If such is the case our mind will never adhere to rituals that are brought into place by earthly minds.
Secondly, worship in "truth", according to what He has revealed to us through scriptures.
It is true that there is no explicit scripture portions which tell us what the the order of worship is. However, the epistles reveal how our fathers mannered themselves in these gatherings of the early church.
We as present day Christians, should be cognizant of these truths and be responsible enough not to be a host to any mannerisms or rituals that have no spiritual standing.

DeleteGood to hear from you, I fully agree with your feedback in relation to this subject. Thanks for your valuable time to express your insights in a broad way. As you said, some times our worship services are like lifeless ones. Though we say we have no written pattern for our worship services, Holy Spirit will lead us into the real worship. But sad to say, unfortunately knowing or unknowingly some unwritten patterns we follow every Sunday as a routine practice. Yes, as you said, and I repeat: “It is true that the lifelessness that has crept into present day churches have given rise to the adoption of many ritualistic practices that beg a change. Most of these practices may not have a scriptural standing and refuse to let go from our assemblies. Thus the true purpose of worship is lost behind these heavy boulders.” If anybody raises voice against such practices, surely he will be condemned, so most of the time believers just go along with the existing pattern; it is high time that we need a tremendous change in our worship services. I appreciate your concern in this regard.
